Measure use before pricing it
A device averaging 1,000 watts for three hours per day uses 3 kWh daily. Over 30 identical days it uses 90 kWh. Multiply 90 by the actual price per kWh for the relevant supply to estimate its usage charge.
There is no default Iraqi government tariff in our calculation. Enter the rate that applies to your bill or agreement. A charge based on an ampere subscription, a fixed monthly amount or a tiered schedule cannot be treated as a simple kWh tariff without additional information.
Average power matters
Equipment may switch off between operating cycles. An air conditioner's rated maximum is not always its average draw. Use measured or appropriately documented average power when possible. Treat an unmeasured value as an assumption and compare a lower and higher scenario.
The electricity calculator separates watts, hours, days and price. Do not confuse watts with kilowatts: 1 kW equals 1,000 W. A unit error can multiply a result by one thousand.
Keep other costs separate
Fixed charges, generator fuel, maintenance and taxes are outside a single-rate electricity calculation. If you compare two supply options, include their relevant extra costs separately and use the same period. The result is a planning estimate, not an official electricity bill.
